Marina-Bay-Sands-resort-opens-Singapore

If you fancy a dip in this pool, you'll need a head for heights - it's 55 storeys up.
But swimming to the edge won't be quite as risky as it looks. While the water in the infinity pool seems to end in a sheer drop, it actually spills into a catchment area where it is pumped back into the main pool. At three times the length of an Olympic pool and 650ft up, it is the largest outdoor pool in the world at that height.
It features in the impressive, boat-shaped 'SkyPark' perched atop the three towers that make up the world's most expensive hotel, the £4billion Marina Bay Sands development in Singapore.

The hotel, which has 2,560 rooms costing from £350 a night, was officially opened yesterday with a concert by Diana Ross.
The Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi, estimated to have cost £2billion when it opened in 2004, was previously the world's most expensive hotel.
But with its indoor canal, opulent art, casino, outdoor plaza, convention centre, theatre, crystal pavilion and museum shaped like a lotus flower, the Marina Bay Sands has taken its crown.
The infinity pool on the roof is in the 'SkyPark' which spans the three towers of the hotel. The platform itself is longer than the Eiffel tower laid down and is one of the largest of its kind in the world.

Infinity pools give the effect that the water extends to the horizon. In reality, the water spills over the edge into a catchment below, and is then pumped back into the pool. The pools have two circulation systems. The first functions like that of a regular pool, filtering and heating the water in the main pool. The second filters the water in the catch basin and returns it to the upper pool.

The Marina Sands resort was designed by architect Moshe Safdie who based it on a deck of cards.

Inside shoppers can ride along an indoor canal in Sampan boats styled on traditional Chinese vessels from the 17th century.
The owners have also commissioned five well-known artists to create works of art to 'integrate' with the buildings. Among these is a 40m-long Antony Gormley sculpture made from 16,100 steel rods. The whole thing weighs 14.8 tons and it took 60 people to assemble it in the hotel.
Artist Chongbin Zheng created Rising Forest which is 83 three metre high pots with trees in them. The pots were so big the artist had to build a customised kiln the size of a small building to make them in.
Last night, the world's most expensive hotel was given a launch party befitting it. Singing legend Diana Ross performed for 2,500 VIPs in the resort's Grand Ballroom and pop singer Kelly Rowland headlined an outdoor concert.

The opening celebrations also featured a death-defying relay. Seven teams of three participants each scaled the three towers before sprinting across the 340-metre long Sands SkyPark, where the infinity pool is located, to the finish line.

The resort will employ 10,000 people directly and generate up to £48m each year. Entrance to the casino alone is nearly £50 a day - but an average of 25,000 people have visited the casino daily since its initial phased opening two months ago.

Thomas Arasi, president and chief executive officer of the resort, said he expects to attract an astonishing 70,000 visitors a day once it is fully open.
It was due to open in 2009, but was delayed thanks to labour and material shortages, and funding problems due to the global financial crisis.

The Venetian Resort Hotel Casino

The Venetian Resort Hotel Casino, or just The Venetian Hotel for shorter words, tends to be one of the most popular luxurious hotels that are located in Las Vegas. People tend to come here all the time for various reasons. It is located on the main strip of Las Vegas so you will be right in the middle of the action if you tend to stay here. The Park Royal Hotel

The Park Royal has reopened after a rather extensive remodelling. This resort consists of 2 buildings located across the road from the water, but has a tunnel connecting the resort property to their beach area. The resort is about 4 Km (2.5 miles) from the town core, near the International pier. It is an all inclusive with 4 restaurants, a large pool in the main complex, and 2 small ones as part of the beach section, along with hot tubs there too. There is a small cove with a man made beach that would be a safe place for kids to play, and can be used to swim out into the ocean. There is an on site dive operation, as well as a kids club. The area surrounding the beach is great for snorkeling, and if you use the current you can drift to the north along an area that several snorkeling companies bring paying customers to see. Be advised that if you choose to drift north it is best to swim to shore & walk back rather than try to swim against the current.

Cozumel: General hotel and resort information

It is the intent of this section to try to give a first time visitor a general overview of what the hotel or resort can supply as far as location and general placement relative to town, beaches, diving & snorkeling etc. The general rating system that TA forum users have more or less established as reasonable is used here, not necessarily the star rating in travel guides. In the town core there are many hotels, but no resorts, and it is fair to get an idea of what they have to offer by reading the reviews on Trip Advisor keeping in mind that you can't please everyone, so some bad reviews always get written by people. There is no beach in town, and swimming is not allowed in the area due to boat traffic. The closest beach to the town core is about 1 km south of the core, and it is very small, but popular with the residents, especially on Sundays. It is called Playa Caletita, and is beside the lighthouse. There is also a small beach just North of town, across from the military base.  It also is a locals favorite.
The real beach that is commonly used by people staying at a resort or hotel that is not located along it is well south of town, starting approximately 14 kilometers (8 1/2 miles) south of the International pier area and it stretches for many kilometers south of where the Iberostar is located. There is a lot of debate whether to choose all inclusive or to rely on the local restaurants for a better variety of meals, but not many consider that almost all of the resorts that are located on what can be considered a real beach are all inclusives, so if you want the best of beaches right at your resort you are pretty much forced to pay for the all inclusive option. That doesn't mean that you have to eat all your meals at the resort, but since the resorts are not that close to town you can't just walk to a selection of different restaurants, you will need to go by car or use a taxi. You can also go by car or taxi to see & use several sections of beach on the east side of the island, but you need to be aware to the fact that most have unpredictable undercurrents & rip tides due to the powerful waves along that side of the island.
There is also a beach at the north end of the northern hotel zone, which has the El Cozumelino and the Melia along it. Some of it is man made and generally speaking it is mainly used by guests of the resorts and it doesn't have any beach clubs along it. There is another beach in that area (Playa Azul) which is located by the Playa Azul Hotel and  is a public beach popular with the locals but all are welcome to use it, but not the facilities of the hotel.

Cozumel Palace

Located just a bit south of the town core, a short walk. It is on the water and all rooms face the water, and the sunset. (According to the web site all rooms are ocean view, BUT they have added a few rooms that have a street view, but don't seem willing to mention it even when contacted by Trip Advisor members). It has no beach, the waterfront deck area is about 6 feet above the water, with ladders going down to it. It is an all exclusive, and the rooms are a reasonable size.  It was supposed to be the first 5 star All Inclusive resort in Cozumel, but without a beach it doesn't get that high a rating. There is good snorkeling right there, and a very good dive operator is on site. It is hard to rate this place as it had not been open long under the new name before Wilma caused it to close again. Photos and the few reviews out there are very positive.

Hotel Cozumel and Resort

Located 3 blocks south of the Chedroui store, (and the Cozumel Palace) across the road from the waterfront. It has some ocean view rooms, which may be acceptable, but they also face the very busy main roadway along the waterfront, and most of the ocean view is blocked by buildings. It does have a waterfront area (beach club) with a sandy area (part of the deck area), and stairs into the water. You get from the lobby area to the beach club using a hallway under the road, with stairs at either end (not wheelchair friendly). The facility has a very large pool with a constant depth of about 48 inches. The rooms were not large, but not cramped either, and as of Feb 05, the actual rooms matched the photos on their web site. It has an All Inclusive option, which many feel is not good value, but is often discounted which should affect the value. The resort is well kept in general, and within walking distance of the town core. There is an in house dive operator, snorkeling was not all that good in it's vicinity.  The general feeling is that this hotel deserves a 2 1/2 to 3 star rating. It is close to town, helping it to be a good mid price range place to stay, not luxurious, but clean & comfortable.

Jumeirah Beach Hotel

Jumeirah beach is one of the most renowned tourist attrcations all over the globe. It is infact not one beach, but a vast long strip of beach on the Arabian gulf with white sand, crystal clear seawater and bath-temperature surf. Many of Dubai's best hotels and private clubs are located in this area. These hotels are not only ideally located but also provide the best facilities to the tourists. So, you know where to land up in your next holidays!

When you plan for a Dubai beach holiday, then you can look for the following top five luxury beach resorts:

Jumeirah Beach Hotel
This five star hotel was established in the year 1997. Opposite to this hotel, in the sea, stands the sail-shaped Burj Al Arab. The hotel is constructed in the shape of a wave to compliment the Burj Al Arab. The hotel is the Wild Wadi Water Park and a major landmark of Dubai.

Initially it was the ninth tallest building in Dubai but today, it is ranked lower than the 100th tallest building. Inspite of this, it remains a popular tourist destination.

Mina A' Salam
It was the first Dubai beach hotel. It seems to exhibit a fusion of Dubai's modern-day opulence with its old-world architecture. There are 292 rooms, constructed in such a way that each faces the scenic beauty of the sea. All of them are styled according to the Arabian theme: heavy studded doors, Moorish arches hung with ornate lanterns and high beds with exotic dark blue, red and gold fabrics.

But the large terraces are the most attractive features of this hotel. It has a village outlook but the difference is that it's a luxurious village!

Le Royal Meridien
It is located on a pristine stretch of private beach. From this hotel, you get a stunning view of the Arabian Gulf. It is set in landscaped gardens overlooking the famous Jumeirah beach.

It is one of the most romantic hotels. It looks like a storehouse of roses. In each room of this hotel, you will find finger bowls of water floating with petals to dip the digits. The bathroom has more blooms than even a florist. Rose residues are also scattered on the bed. So, if you are looking for a romantic holiday, then head forward to thisresort.

Le Meridien Mina Seyahi
It is a boutique-styled luxury beach resort set on Jumeirah Beach. It stands opposite to Emirates Golf Club and Montgomery Golf Course. It will be more appropriate for a bit adventurous tourists as it features outdoor facilities for up to 5,000 guests. The sports activities that it provides include water skiing, kayaking, and windsurfing.

Some of Dubai's cultural and tourist venues like the Dubai Museum and Gold and Spice Souks are conveniently accessible from the hotel.

Burj Al Arab
It is a giant sized beach resort, the tallest amongst all with a height of 321 metres. It is situated on an artificial island and is connected to the mainland by a private curving bridge. It is the world's first seven star hotel. It contains more than 20,000 square feet of real gold leaf.

So, when you plan out your next holiday, you must have an expereince of these famous resorts of Jumeirah.

Newest B Hotel & Resort planned for South Beach: deal marks second partnership between brand and developers

The first hotel for the B Hotels & Resorts brand--the B Ocean Fort Lauderdale--had only been open a few months when the brand announced the second B hotel will open in the Continental South Beach Hotel in Miami Beach, Fla.
In April a joint venture between real estate development firm InSite Group and London-based Cube Capital purchased the 251-room South Beach property for $61 million. The oceanfront hotel, on 18th Street and Collins Avenue, will remain open during an extensive renovation and repositioning and is scheduled to reopen in the fourth quarter of 2012 as a yet-unnamed B Hotel. Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels brokered the sale on behalf of the seller, RFR Holding LLC.
The deal was all-cash, and the renovation will be as well, according to Ron Tencer, VP of acquisitions and development for InSite.
A partnership between InSite and Cube also owns the B Ocean Fort Lauderdale, which opened in January. That deal too was an all-cash transaction.
The brand launched publicly in September 2010 and is led by CEO and president Ayelet Weinstein, former SVP of InSite Group.
PRIME LOCATION
The South Beach location is ideal, according to Chris Tompkins, corporate VP of brand marketing for B. "It's a great property in the 'SoBe 10' power mile [also home to hotels including the Setai, the W South Beach and the Delano], and it makes good investment sense," he said. "The brand is all about hotel, destination and location."
RENOVATION PLANS
As for renovations, Tompkins said it's still early stages, with no design firm chosen yet, but the property boasts great potential. The Morris Lapidus-designed building will undergo what Tompkins called "a total renovation" to incorporate B Hotels' signature standards, but the 8-story, 251-key footprint likely won't change.

Marketing a Hotel Online In a Struggling Economy

Introduction

In a struggling economy, businesses slow down. This is especially true for hotels as their growth is directly related to the health of the economy. Consequently, your marketing budget shrinks and you need to be careful about how to spend your marketing budget wisely. In other words, identify what marketing methods work, and what don't. It is more important than ever that you pay attention to your return on investment (ROI).
In 2008, 37%-38% of all hotel bookings will be generated from the Internet (one-third in 2007, 29% in 2006). At least another third of all hotel bookings will be influenced by the Internet, but done offline (call center, walk-ins, group bookings, etc). All major hotel brands are already generating an excess of 40% of the (CRS) bookings via their brand websites. By the end of 2010, over 45% of all hotel bookings will be completed online.
The internet has surfaced as the leader in travel and hotel sales. It has established itself as the most important distribution and marketing channel in the hospitality industry. Since this is the case, it only makes sense for you to give some serious thought and planning to Internet-related campaigns in your hotel's marketing mix. In other words, when your marketing budgets shrink, you could benefit by accentuating your online strategy versus offline strategy. The bonus is that Internet marketing is almost totally measurable, which allows for quick evaluation and continual adjustments to improve results.

Marketing on the Internet

The primary objective of all your online marketing efforts should be to attract the right visitors to your web site and to encourage them to make a reservation. Of course, bringing more and more visitors helps in brand building exercise too. There are several ways to promote your website online. Below we list just a few of them.

First and Foremost – Create and Enhance Your Hotel's Website

Hotel Internet marketing starts and ends with the hotel website. The hotel website has become the first, the only and in many cases — the last point of contact with the travel consumer. It is only natural that creating and enhancing the hotel website should be the top priority. The objective is to create an attractive look and feel; and at the same time make sure that the website is content/feature rich so that it provides required information to its visitors.
Most of the hoteliers are content with having a web site as the sum- total of their Internet marketing efforts. Whereas the fact is that having a website is just a starting point and not the end. Once you have a well designed website in place, it is crucial that you promote it or market it online. What's the point in spending all that time and effort to create a website which brings in tiny amount of visitors? If promoted properly, your website can generate substantial amount of leads and reservations for your hotel.
You need to keep a close eye on latest trends and usability enhancements and accordingly enhance the website at regular intervals. However, more often than not, it doesn't happen. A fine example could be the screen resolution with which websites are designed. We noticed that a lot of websites still cater to 800x600 pixels screen resolution (perhaps, even less) whereas the current trend is that more and more computers are using a screen size of 1024x768 pixels or more. Therefore, a substantial amount of web page real estate is going wasted.
Another example could be that of images and graphics used on websites. Many hoteliers don't realize that today, Internet users have a lot more bandwidth/internet speed at their disposal than what they had a couple of years ago. Still, many websites continue to use small sized, highly optimized graphics, thereby compromising on quality and presentation. These are just a couple of examples. There are several other factors contributing to websites being archaic – verbose content copy, poorly done virtual tours, confusing navigation, and other redundant elements.

Content Copy - Study Your Competition

You need to thoroughly study and understand your competition since having an edge over your competitor's website should be one of the primary objectives for your website. In order to do so, you have to understand exactly what your competitors are doing online – the manner in which they display their services, facilities and amenities, use of graphics, search engine penetration, etc.
Travelers are getting more and more skeptical of hotels' website content. Write concise and straight forward content copy for your website with appropriate graphics. Graphics and animation go a long way in sending the right message to your visitors. It is important that your website demonstrates your hotel's facilities and amenities in as attractive a manner as possible. But at the same time, make sure it is searchable. For that to happen, you need to understand what people search for on the Internet and then accordingly plug in the right kind of content and other sales elements into the web pages. In the online world, your website is your biggest asset. The content that you write for it can either build brand equity or tarnish the brand image of the hotel.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

Optimize web pages by reviewing website's HTML source code, META Tags, implement popular keywords in the content, etc. In short, do whatever it takes to improve your website's "Organic Search", which is the free/unpaid search on search engines.
Make sure that the agency or SEO specialists that you hire have enough experience and knowledge of hotel selection and booking process. The problem with many SEO specialists is that they tend to populate hotel sites with unrelated non-travel visitors through the careless use of poorly selected key words/phrases and other means. The number of visitors your SEO efforts generate is important. But even more important is the number of reservations generated from these visitors. Having a lot of visitors to your website would be of little use if they do not help in generating reservations. Therefore, conversion is the key.
Having a good link strategy is a very important part of SEO. When ranking your web site, several search engines consider the number and quality of in-bound links to rank your website. Participating in local search – Google and Yahoo – also helps. It also keeps your hotel near the top of search engine results.

Paid Search Campaigns

Implement "Paid Search" Campaigns such as Pay Per Click (PPC) or Google AdWords or Yahoo Search Marketing or Microsoft adCenter. It is worth investing in Paid Search Campaigns to start with since it brings immediate results as opposed to Organic Search (SEO above), which usually has a gestation period of three to six months. As your Website's visibility improves in Organic Search, investment on Paid Search could be reduced.
The sad part is that many site promoters use PPC to replace and not supplement efforts to improve a web site's ability to earn good organic search results. Organic search should be your goal. User behavior supports this too. Users are more inclined to click on organic search results than paid search results.
Finally, as with SEO, remember that the number of reservations or conversions, not simply the number of site visits, determines a Paid Search Campaign's success.

Packages and Promotions

Identify which aspects of your product resonate best with your customers. Why are people staying at your hotel to begin with: good location, business amenities, free breakfast, etc. Package and promote your hotel's unique value proposition to potential customers. For example, create unique hotel offers based on your unique hotel product attributes or attributes in the local environment. Several years ago, someone had the brilliant idea to include a complimentary breakfast as a value-added feature to improve sales. It worked so well that nearly every hotel now offers it; it is no longer a special feature and could even be a deficit for those who do not offer it.
The vast majority of travelers make a value judgment when selecting a hotel. Create special promotions, which focus on value-added features targeted to the market segment you are seeking.

Consumer Generated Media (CGM) - Guest Reviews and Feedback

Social media sites have become very popular as these websites provide a means for keeping in touch with friends, colleagues, and relatives. However, in a tough economy where marketing budgets are limited, it makes more sense to focus on travel-related social media sites like TripAdvisor.com and HotelChatter.com instead of non-travel focused websites such as YouTube.com or FaceBook.com. Yes, if you have the resources to focus on both types of websites, do so by all means. While travel-related social media websites play a significant role in travel planning, non-travel focused, popular social media websites are important from the perspective of brand building and awareness.
Make sure your own website supports Consumer Generated Media (CGM) including blogs, trip planners, guest reviews, experience sharing, etc. For instance, it should allow visitors to read and post reviews, comments and feedback. People do read reviews and experiences of the visitors who have stayed at your hotel in the past. This trend is increasingly catching up with people as part of their planning process for both business and leisure travel.
From a guest's perspective, it is more convenient for him to write a candid comment about the services that he experienced at your hotel than to go to the front desk or a consumer court and vent out his frustrations. That's what people like to read before planning their travel – blunt and honest guest reviews – whether good or bad. And it does make an impact on their travel decisions.

Changing Times Require Changing Hotel Business Models

The performance of the hotel industry can be either enhanced or limited by the way in which hotel business is conceptualised. In the context of evolving economic environments, the widespread belief that hotels are strictly in the business of selling rooms to guests in need of accommodation is narrow and thus limiting. If the industry does not take full advantage of the opportunities presented by economic trends, hotel assets will remain underutilised, potential markets will remain untapped, strategic alliances that should occur naturally will not materialise and significant revenues will be foregone.
This article presents two concepts that could offer opportunities for the industry if hotels are willing to take a few steps away from the traditional business models.
The Catwalk Concept
A model to capitalise on the opportunities presented by the proliferation of international brands
Hotels should capitalise on a key side effect of the global proliferation of international hotel brands: efforts aimed at building hotel brands have resulted in branding the guest population as well. Guests loyal to a particular hotel brand share identity traits and lifestyle preferences with each other and differ from guests that prefer different brands. Therefore, branded hotels are brick and mortar containers for very distinct, well defined, self-selected captive audiences that could be accessed for marketing purposes. This argument holds true to the extent that hotel brand preference is a reliable indicator of purchasing behavior and brand preference for other products and services.
A branded hotel can take three specific steps to capitalise on this opportunity:
  • First, conduct research to identify specific brands of other products and services that appeal to their guests, for example, one such brand could be a particular type of flat-screen television whose design and price tag has been targeted to a specific type of customer.
  • Second, explain to the companies identified the benefits of gaining access to their guests; the hotel could build guest market profiles to support the claims that its guests fit the profile of the flat-screen television’s target audience.
  • Third, find inconspicuous ways to grant these companies access to the guests, for example, the hotel could agree to display the flat-screen televisions in its rooms so that the guests interact freely with the product, without ever feeling part of a marketing campaign.
Variations on this approach can be applied to any type of product or service that could be adopted by a hotel, as long as its brand target market is compatible with the hotel’s guest profile. Examples include products such as design furniture, art collections and electronic gadgets or services related to wellness, health, continued learning or entertainment. The approach proposed here should not be confused with practices already employed by hotels that have successfully marketed and sold their own products to their guests by using the rooms as display space and offering hotel products via catalogues.
The value proposition to the purveyors of goods and services is twofold.
  • First, they would enjoy marketing benefits derived from their ability to reach a target audience in an environment that allows this audience direct and free interaction with their products. This opportunity would be especially valuable in instances when new products are tested in the market: the costs of testing the product will be reduced and the ability to reach the desired audience enhanced.
  • Second, using hotel space as exhibition space or product-testing ground may also result in direct sales to the guests and indirect sales to audiences reached by word-of-mouth generated by the guests.
The value proposition to hotel guests is also twofold.
  • First, they would benefit from exclusive access to tailored products or new concepts that will enhance the value derived from staying in that hotel.
  • Second, they could benefit from exclusive discounts.
The value proposition to the hotels themselves is multidimensional.
  • Direct benefits would be derived from additional income streams, as hotels can sell the same space many times over during the same time period (that is, the guests would pay the daily rate to gain access to the desired room, interested suppliers of goods and services would pay to gain access to the guests).
  • Indirect benefits could be derived from the added prestige of associating the hotel’s brand with other established brands, or from the increase in demand from guests as a result of marketing strategies that exploit the potential discounts offered to them.
In conclusion, the trend of increased proliferation of international brands may be better exploited by the adoption of a hotel business model which recognizes that branding efforts have transformed guests into assets and other companies (including hotel suppliers) into potential customers.

The Sanctuary ConceptA model to capitalise on the opportunities presented by a particular aspect of globalisation Hotels should capitalise on the trend of globalisation by tailoring their product to serve the rapidly growing population of professionals who relocate across the globe every few years in search of better career prospects. The demand generated by these professionals is recession proof, as it can be captured in good times, when people move to a new region, and bad times, when they move out. Moreover, for a hotel chain with international reach, this demand can be captured at both ends, in the city left behind and in the new destination.
The extended stay hotel concept taps into this market to some degree. However, to fully capitalise on this pool of demand, hotels should focus on the particular needs of this type of guest. It is true that guests relocating to a new city require direct access to hotel rooms because they need accommodation; however, these guests have a more pressing and important need for access to the institutions and facilities of an unfamiliar new city. This need highlights two opportunities, one related to a tailored product hotels could offer, the other related to the Catwalk opportunities afforded by catering to this type of guest.
Hotels could tailor their product to incorporate logistic and ambassadorial functions aimed at drastically reducing the acclimatisation period of any newcomer by making the process short and effortless. This value proposition could be particularly attractive if addressed to corporations, which would then benefit from a speedier acclimatisation of their new hires in two ways.
  • Relocation costs would be cut significantly by reducing the time spent in hotel accommodation, searching for permanent accommodation and going through the necessary red tape.
  • The companies would also benefit from an employee that can focus on the job immediately instead of spending a long amount of time trying to settle in their new city.
The concierge services of such a hotel would include assistance with obtaining residencies and driving licenses and help with finding a permanent residence, purchasing a car, and so forth. The rooms could be tailored for guests travelling with many possessions; the common spaces could be designed to increase networking and interaction between people that share the same potentially nerve-racking experience of relocating and starting a new life in a new home.
The Catwalk opportunities are very significant, as the relocating guests share basic needs that go beyond issues of lifestyle and consumer preferences. Virtually all of these guests will need a house and furniture and most of them need a car. Moreover, there will be a great immediacy for these needs, which should be satisfied within weeks so that they can focus on their new job. How valuable would it be for real-estate agents, furniture distributors, car dealers and other purveyors of related goods and services to gain direct access to the guests of a hotel catering exclusively to this demand segment? The strategic alliances that could be formed to create an effortless transition period for these guests are worth investigating.
In conclusion, the growth in the number of professionals that habitually relocate in search of better career prospects may be better exploited by the adoption of a hotel business model that tailors its product and creates strategic alliances with suppliers of goods and services that can make their transition period smooth and effortless.

Package Vacations or Independent Travel?

One of the important questions to be answered when you have to travel on a budget, is whether it is best to plan each part of your trip independently, making separate airfare and hotel reservations, or to opt for a package deal where everything is included for one price.
Unfortunately, there isn’t one best answer to this dilemma, because it depends on where you want to go, and what deals are available at the time. For example, traveling to many to European cities is often less costly to arrange yourself, especially in the off-season, when airlines are running specials on flights to Europe.
In the contrary, if you want to travel to an exotic place, like South Africa, Egypt, Morocco, Kenya, or Asia, it is often less expensive and easier when arrange by a package company or travel agent. This is due in part to travel agencies having special deals with the national airlines and resorts of these countries, and they are able to provide substantial discounts in exchange for a steady flow of business.
For instance, a solo trip to Egypt from New York could cost you a grand total of $1,100, including airfare, an excellent hotel, daily breakfast, airport transfers, and daily sightseeing tours, including guided tours of the pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx. This is a far better deal than arranging the trip on your own, since airfare alone would have cost over $700. The secret of this great deal was the relationship of the tour operator with Egypt air and the hotel at which you stayed.
There are similarly great deals for many Asian locations, particularly India, China and Taiwan. Make sure to research the availability of these types of vacation package deals when looking to travel abroad on a budget.
Solo travelers often have trouble getting the great deals on travel packages, since the required single increase can often make the deal not worth it. Don’t despair; there are great deals out there if package deals are too expensive or aren’t your thing, and it is often a better option, especially if you are traveling alone.
One important tip is to find out exactly what is and isn’t included in any package deal that you are considering. Most travel packages include optional excursions, which can add considerable expense, and blow your budget. Try to get a detailed daily schedule to make sure you won’t be on your own if you don’t buy into the options. It’s also a good idea to ask for a list of the optional outings available, including descriptions and costs, so that you can compare what the price would be to what you could arrange on your own.
If you are traveling alone, make sure you start planning ahead, especially when it comes to airfare arrangements. The important thing to remember is that there are only a certain number of first come, first serve seats the advertised low fares, and if you wait too long you won’t get the lower rate. It is important to reserve your airfare and your lodging as early as possible to make sure you get the best available prices.
In the end, the decision whether to choose a package deal or independent travel an individual decision based on the traveler’s situation. Make sure to carefully compare package prices with those for independently arranging travel to the same destination. And don’t forget to take your own personal travel style into account. Some people are more cut out for a packaged tour, particularly to an new destination, while others prefer the freedom from itineraries that independent travel offers.

Beach Hotels - Vacation Paradise

Creation of a beach hotel is a very complex exercise. It has to take into account a number of factors and find suitable and marketable solutions. Unlike city hotels, where the prime motivator of the guest is to visit the hotel for business or transit, the motivation of the visitor in a resort hotel is to spend quality time on a vacation or a holiday. Normally a person takes a vacation with the family; hence, one has to plan the hotel in a way that it fulfills the holiday expectations of all, the husband, the wife and the children.

As the name suggests, a beach hotel is either a beach property, located on a beach or have a beachfront across the road. A hotel in the city with a famous beach will not qualify as a beach hotel. As the prime factor for people to come to these hotels is leisure, the hotels are planned to offer a relaxed, holiday mood and atmosphere with a host of leisure activities to keep the visitors occupied all the time.

The rooms or apartments in beach hotels are large and airy and often sunny too. Good beach hotels have rooms measuring 45 square meters up wards. Luxury beach hotels offer family suites, which are as large as 200 square meters with separate living, dining and bedroom spaces. Beach hotels offer plenty of sun and sand, therefore good beach hotels provide either a balcony or a private sun deck with the room, for people to soak the sun in their own privacy. A very popular concept now a days is to have part of the hotel as beach villas with their own private beaches.

The accommodation in a beach hotel offers choice of queen sized or king beds. For children they offer either provision of extra beds in the room or have a pull out bed in the sofa placed in the rooms. The hotels normally have enough interconnecting rooms for those who want an additional room for the children. The bathrooms have long baths as also a walk in shower. All rooms have a hair dryer, satellite channels on the TV, mini bars, bathrobes and slippers. Hotels also provide wireless internet connectivity through out the premises to allow guest to communicate via mails.

Beach hotel planners pay special attention to create adequate facilities for their junior guests, the children. This keeps the children busy and entertained under hotels care while the parents are enjoying the sun or the surf. These are facilities like playrooms, video games parlor, table tennis, and kiddies' pools etc. Beach hotels also have a well-planned and attractive food menu for the children. Successful planning of children facilities would normally result in profitable marketing.

For the senior guests, one has to plan a host of activities where they can spend their time and money. Water sports like sailing, scuba diving, snorkeling, water skiing are quite popular. A well-fitted gym will further compliment the leisure package. A very popular activity now a days is offering wellness treatments through a well-known and branded spa. People love to spend time in a spa and be rejuvenated.

The success of a beach hotel depends on the variety and quality of restaurants, the cuisine and the entertainment they provide. Bars and lounges for the guests to sip a long drink before dinner compliment the atmosphere. The bars and restaurants create a very romantic atmosphere in the evenings and also have provision for live music. These activities add further challenges to the planners and the developers. The ultimate quality of experience is more than often decided by the taste buds.

These are a few important aspects of what one must consider when planning a beach. There are many more aspects like oceanographic considerations, swimming pools - out doors and in doors, entertainment zones, water parks, back of the house area facilities and technology etc. that need serious deliberations, thoughts and satisfactory resolution for the success of the beach hotel project...
